About our community outreach officer
Born and raised in New Providence, Abby Smith is a practicing visual artist and Junkanooer. She holds an associate degree in art from The College of The Bahamas, BA in international relations and diplomacy from Schiller International Univeristy and MSc. in global studies and international affairs from Northeastern University. While in Boston, she worked as a peer reviewer and copy editor for the Taylor And Francis Group at The Journal of Arts Management, Law and Society, as well as a research associate. Abby’s fine art work has been exhibited locally and her work in costume design can be seen annually on Bay Street during Junkanoo parades. She is an active member of community youth programs and an advocate for cultural integration.
Abby is the NAGB Community Outreach Officer. Her responsibilities are to encourage engagement with the gallery, enhance learning opportunities, coordinate educational events and seasonal programmes, further marketing and branding initiatives and develop programming.
