Welcome to the Art Library
at NAGB

Purpose - The library is a resource center in the area of Bahamian & regional art, artists and art movements-with both onsite and online access. Online access, through the catalog link below, permits users, both abroad and on the family islands, to search our catalog.

Usage Policy - The library is solely a reference facility, therefore materials will not be loaned out.  Black and white copies will be provided of any material needed for research, to a limit to be specified in adherence to copyright laws.

Users - The library serves artists, students, teachers and the general public.  The curriculum and research need of COB lecturers, COB students, and primary and high school teachers, is a priority for us.

Items in the collection

  • video recordings of NAGB lecture series, artists talks, issues forums, seminars, film series and poets and writer series,
  • binders with information sheets on Bahamian artists, architects, filmmakers, photographers, exhibitions and art galleries,
  • a vertical file of newspaper clippings, online articles and pamphlets, containing information on Bahamian art, artists and the local art scene in general, (articles are included in the online catalog)
  • books,
  • exhibition catalogs (Bahamian & regional),
  • International exhibition catalogs featuring Bahamian artists,
  • art journals,
  • dictionaries,
  • encyclopedias,
  • directories,
  • handbooks,
  • film/video-recordings on CDs & DVDs ,

Computer usage - One Computer is available for patron use.  Services include, the Internet and Microsoft applications for creating documents.  Printouts are available for a small fee.  Photocopies are also available in black and white or color.

Library Hours - The librarian is available 11am to 3pm Tuesday thru Saturday.  Outside of these hours please call to make arrangements or use the email address provided below.
