Blank Canvas: February 28th, Team NAGB

Katrina Cartwright

The very last day of February was a fun and engaging conversation with members of Team NAGB: guest host Malika Pryor-Martin, Communications & Development Officer, Assistant Curator Richardo Barrett and Community Outreach Officer Abby Smith.

In the first two segments, Abby and Richardo discussed the NAGB’s latest inter-island traveling exhibition, “TRANS: A Migration of Identity.” The exhibition, which is a tale of The Bahamas using visual arts, is the first of its kind, using the National Collection to show in the Family Islands. Making its premiere in Eleuthera with the help of amazing partners, One Eleuthera Foundation, The South Eleuthera Mission, and the Eleuthera Arts & Cultural Center, the NAGB will be presenting an exhibition opening and Curators’ Talk and for the first time will provide a community art workshop. All events tied to the exhibition are free and open to the public. Whether visiting Eleuthera for the first time or living in Eleuthera for your entire life, all are welcome and encouraged to engage and participate in these wonderful and one time only events.

“TRANS: A Migration of Identity” opens on March 5th and runs through April 13th, 2018. It you’re a school and are interested in attending, please contact One Eleuthera as transportation may be available to assist your school in making the trip to Rock Sound to see the works.

In the final segment of the show, Team NAGB discussed "what’s on" at the NAGB in March. Upcoming events include our monthly Film Series, which will be playing "Orpheus" on March 8th, a soft opening for the works of Drew Weech in our Project Space on March 13th and a Teachers' Seminar for K-12 educators on the 24th, among others.
