On Wednesday, February 21st, 2018, starting at 7 pm The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas presents two different films that look at the mystery of death.
The first, the short film "Carl’s Present" by a local filmmaker Kevin Taylor, is about a man given a second chance with his life. The story follows a chance encounter which leads him to a medicine woman who cures him for a day. Carl now makes use of his day to make amends, love, forgive and be forgiven.
Following that a screening of the timeless Swedish epic historical fantasy film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman, The Seventh Seal, in which a knight challenges Death to a game of chess for his life. The Knight and Death play as the cultural turmoil envelopes the people around them as they try, in different ways, to deal with the upheaval the plague has caused.
The screening is free and open to the public. It is rated NR. We will have popcorn on hand for sale. NOTE: If it rains we will host the screening inside the gallery space. Come out and spend this lovely evening with us.
