Bahamians, like the rest of humanity, are facing a constantly evolving world. We live in a society that has done little to address the class struggles that continue to exist, despite the advances in technology.
Long before there was YouTube or Facebook, there was only one way to reach millions of people around the world. Charlie Chaplin and his beloved Tramp character pioneered the use of film as a medium to confront social issues in an entertaining way.
On Thursday, May 18th at 8 p.m. the NAGB presents “Modern Times,” the last film to feature the Tramp character and the first time Chaplin is heard on film. Even some eighty years later the film resonates with issues that our society continues to face to this day.
The screening is free and open to the public we will have popcorn on hand for sale. Come out and spend this wonderful Spring night with us.
