In the spirit of its current exhibition, EN MAS’: Carnival, Junkanoo and Performance Art of the Caribbean, the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas is putting out a call to Junkanoo’s best. We’re inviting the country’s star bellers and drummers to bring the heat in our bell-off and drum-off competitions on Friday, July 1st.
At 7 p.m. on the gallery lawn, there will be a:
· Beller-drummer combo competition (15 persons max)
· Beller line vs. beller line competition (6 bellers max)
· Drumline vs. drumline (10 drummers max)
NAGB members enjoy the action free of charge. Regular admission is $1 for children 12 and under, and $3 for older kids and adults. All proceeds from the event will benefit the NAGB Mixed Media Summer Camp.
