In this week’s episode of the NAGB’s Blank Canvas, we embrace literary culture in the Caribbean and in the Ninth National Exhibition or “NE9: The Fruit & The Seed” by welcoming Bahamian poets Sonia Farmer and Charlotte Henay to the show.
Both worked with partners and created collaborative works for the NE–Henay with fellow writer Yasmin Glinton in a collaboration that began as a poetic email exchange between Glinton, located in The Bahamas, with Henay in Canada. In “The Red Thread Cycle,” Bahamian poet and book artist Farmer brought physical form to a series of seven poems by Trinidadian writer Shivanee Ramlochan, though a unique artist’s book created with handmade paper.
The writers discuss their collaborations, their process and also what it means for the NAGB to welcome other forms of artistic expression into its space for the National Exhibition.
Blank Canvas airs every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Guardian Radio 96.9 FM.
