Tonight’s Blank Canvas invites Bahamian painter Tessa Whitehead on the eve of her first solo show opening at the NAGB.
“…there are always two deaths” features new work from the artist who has been exploring issues around the landscape, everyday life, and the inner working of nature in conjunction with the sacred feminine.
Whitehead figurative works advance the dialogue within contemporary Bahamian practices and in particular painting revealing new ways to think through personal narratives, dreamscapes, history and growth. Her in-depth exploration offers several entry points which are at once therapeutic and enthralling. “…there are always two deaths” is on view along with Chan Pratt’s “Resurrection” through July 28th, 2019.
All are invited to the opening tomorrow at 7 pm which is FREE and open to the public. The Blank Canvas airs every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Guardian Talk Radio, 96.9 FM.
