Blank Canvas: August 14th 2019, Kim Smith and Andrew Ash

This episode of Blank Canvas, Amanda Coulson, NAGB Executive Director, speaks with Kim Smith and Andrew Ash from The Place For Art on Village Road.

The Place For Art has become the go-to spot for archival framing and, for the last 5 years, has set a standard for quality handcrafted frames in The Bahamas. Long-time art teacher and pencil artist Kim Smith speaks about his journey, how he met Andrew and how they formed their business together. The Place For Art is a venue where children and adults can also take expert art classes. Andrew Ash also tells his life story—leaving school at 15 to follow his calling of working with his hands, to become one of the country’s master framers.

The Place For Art is now taking registration for the September semester of art classes for children (6 years and older), teens and adults. Email them at [email protected] or call 393.8834 for more information.

The Blank Canvas airs every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Guardian Talk Radio, 96.9 F.M.
