On tonight’s Blank Canvas, your regular host Amanda Coulson (left) catches up with Bahamian documentarian Tamika Galanis (right), who is one of the artists participating in the current exhibition “Refuge,” currently on show at the NAGB. Tamika catches us up on her artistic journey and where the archives have led her in her current research project.
Her artwork in “Refuge” relies on films from her personal family archives and on Thursday night, February 6th, 2020, at 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. she will be giving an artist’s talk at the NAGB around her work in the exhibition and on the importance of the preservation of familial memory through archiving at a time when climate events are causing huge losses to our personal and national history.
To learn more tune into Blank Canvas, which airs every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Guardian Talk Radio 96.9FM.
