On this week’s Blank Canvas, Amanda Coulson has the great pleasure to converse with renowned Bahamian artist, Max Taylor.
Taylor, who is a ceramicist, painter and master printmaker, is also widely recognized as one of the “Fathers of Bahamian Art”. Most widely known for his large scale woodcuts, he has exhibited all over the world and is currently back home on a residency at The Current, Baha Mar. Later this month, he will be exhibiting and also hosting a series of printmaking workshops.
In conversation with Amanda, Taylor reminisces about the early beginnings of the Bahamian art scene; including stories about the origins of Chelsea Pottery and the amazing colleagues who emerged during that era. He referred to artists like Brent Malone, Kendall Hanna, Jackson Burnside, and others.
Blank Canvas airs every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Guardian Talk Radio, 96.9 FM.
