Tonight on Blank Canvas, Amanda Coulson speaks with one of The Bahamas’ foremost artists, Tyrone Ferguson. Known for his mastery of metalwork, Tyrone shares the story of discovering his talent as a blacksmith at 14, his training, and the spiritual and physical journey—including a trip to West Africa—that deepened his understanding of his gift and ancestral connections.
He also reflects on balancing commissions and “logical work,” which supported his family, with an artistic practice that nourished his soul.
NAGB is proud to announce that its Board has commissioned Tyrone to create a monumental set of gates for the property on West Hill Street. While celebrated for his extraordinary metalwork on gates, doors, and functional objects, this marks his first public commission for a national building. The Gates Commission is underway and will be unveiled at the end of June.
