On today’s episode of Blank Canvas, Amanda Coulson speaks with NAGB Chief Curator Holly Bynoe and artist Jeffrey Meris about their involvement in Übersee: Cuba and The Bahamas, Contemporary Art from the Caribbean, curated by Bynoe and Cuban independent curator Tonel.
The exhibition, on view at Halle 14 in Leipzig, Germany through 6 August, features work by 38 artists, including 20 Bahamians. It includes pieces previously shown at NAGB in NE6, NE7, and NE8, alongside new works. Three Bahamian artists—Lynn Parotti, Blue Curry, and Jeffrey Meris—travelled to create and install site-specific works. Meris also completed a two-and-a-half-week residency, which he discusses on the show, sharing insights into living in Germany and developing his piece for Übersee.
