SUMMER CAMP TEACHER

Status: Part-Time

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 4:00pm

Duration: July 3rd – July 28th, 2023

Location: National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB), West & West Hill St, Nassau, The Bahamas

Job Overview

A summer camp teacher is responsible for leading dynamic art activities for children enrolled in the NAGB Mixed Media Art Summer Camp (MMASC).

Job Requirements

  • Be punctual; working hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday
  • Lead campers through a variety of art projects, including 2D, 3D, and other special projects based on the provided curriculum guidelines
  • Create and maintain a safe, disciplined, organized, and learner-centered environment for campers
  • Manage art supplies in a sustainable way to minimize waste
  • Monitor and assist with field trips and other special workshops outside of classes
  • Monitor and assist with snack and lunch breaks
  • Be comfortable working outside in a shaded area
  • Be comfortable lifting up to 20lbs on occasion
  • Delegate non-essential tasks to camp counselors
  • Assist with daily clean-up of work areas
  • Complete evaluations of camp counselors at the end of camp
  • Help campers select their best work to be displayed in the end-of-camp exhibition
  • Attend orientation, post-mortem meetings, and other meetings as necessary
  • Report directly to the Community Outreach Officer and Education & Outreach Manager
  • Complete additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year of teaching experience in a classroom (or similar) setting
