Join us this summer as a Camp Counsellor and immerse yourself in a dynamic, creative, and collaborative environment! As a Camp Counsellor, you’ll work alongside educators and campers who are passionate about art. This role is a great introduction to the museum and could be the start of an even bigger career.
You’ll be assigned to one of the following age groups: 5–7, 8–11, 12–14, or 15+. Counsellors serve as support for Camp Teachers. Your responsibilities will include:
Classroom Environment: Assist camp teachers in creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging space for all campers.
Classroom Management: Help maintain a productive and enjoyable dynamic to support learning.
Individual Guidance: Support campers in completing at least one major project per session.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with a camp teacher, following directions and fulfilling duties with a positive attitude.
Special Activities: Ensure campers have their designated spots and materials during mural painting, workshops, and field trips.
Commitment and Punctuality: Arrive at the museum by 8 am and stay until 4 pm, Monday–Friday.
Setup and Breakdown: Prepare and tidy workstations at the beginning and end of each day.
Safety and Supervision: Maintain a secure environment and provide attentive guidance.
Some experience in an educational or related setting is preferred.
Must work well with a diverse group of children ages 5–17.
The Mixed Media Art Summer Camp (MMASC) provides children (ages 5–17) with access to Bahamian art and history—areas often overlooked in standard curricula. Through hands-on learning, campers explore various artistic techniques while developing critical thinking and social-emotional skills.
MMASC runs in two, two-week sessions beginning in July, culminating in a final exhibition that showcases each camper’s artistic journey. The camp also introduces young artists to potential careers in the visual arts, expanding their creative and professional horizons.
