About the Exhibition

The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) is excited to announce the arrival of our Inter-Island Traveling Exhibition (ITE), Refuge: Reflections, in partnership with the Bahamas National Trust Rand Nature Center, to Freeport, Grand Bahama.

Refuge: Reflections is a revival of the 2019 exhibition curated by Holly Bynoe-Young to help creatives process the trauma caused by Hurricane Dorian. Looking back on the experience, we think about the cries for help, justice, and recognition that are still unheard or unnoticed. It is hard to come back home when home is a reminder of our vulnerability on this planet. As we move towards the Anthropocene era, we must adapt radically to natural disasters. We need a different toolkit for the climate frontlines which balances ancestral knowledge with innovation and resilience.

We invite you to join us for the exhibition opening on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 6:00 pm, at the Glory Banks Gallery, BNT Rand Nature Center, Freeport, Grand Bahama.

This exhibition is organized by Zearier Munroe-Wilkinson with curatorial support by Amaani Hepburn.
