Tonight, Bahamian artist Jeffrey Meris, will be on the “Blank Canvas” to speak about his journey from the Junkanoo shack to Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia for his Bachelors’ and from Columbia University in New York for his Master’s to recently completing the prestigious residency NXTHVN in New Haven.
Jeffrey talks about the support he received from our community—through mentors and otherwise—to the importance of residencies and what they provide to a developing artist. Jeffrey currently has worked on show here in Nassau at Mestre Projects in Albany in the exhibition “Unmastered” curated by Bahamian artist Tavares Strachan. Here his work hangs alongside masters such as Stan Burnside and Pablo Picasso and also in New York and White Columns.
“Blank Canvas” airs each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Guardian Talk Radio 96.9FM.
