Volunteer with us

Join our vibrant community—make a lasting impact as a volunteer

Volunteers are the heart and soul of museums around the world, and at the NAGB, they are our most treasured assets. By volunteering, you can use the arts to inspire others, spark creativity, and help foster a strong, connected community. As a non-profit organisation, the NAGB depends on volunteers for a variety of roles, including workshops, camps, events, administrative tasks, and assisting in our museum store.

Volunteering is more than just supporting the arts—it’s an opportunity to have fun, express yourself, and gain valuable experience. Whether you’re an organisational pro, passionate about education, fascinated by archives, or skilled in communication, there’s a place for you here.

Education & outreach
Our Education team leads creative, collaborative programmes that connect people of all ages to art and ideas. Volunteers support a variety of initiatives, from Summer Camp and hands-on workshops to special events. If you enjoy working with people and want variety in your volunteer experience, this is for you.

Library
Love organising and digging into archives? Our library may be small, but it’s rich in history. Volunteers assist with cataloguing, data entry, documentation, and keeping the space running smoothly. Ideal for those who enjoy quiet focus and behind-the-scenes work.

Communications
The Communications team shapes the museum’s voice—from social media and newsletters to press and public relations. If you’re a strong writer, creative thinker, or have a talent for visuals, this is a great opportunity to build experience in a fast-paced, idea-driven environment.

Museum Store
Our Museum Store offers locally made goods and exhibition-inspired items that support artists and the NAGB. Volunteers help with customer service, merchandising, inventory, and creating a welcoming experience for visitors. Perfect for those with an eye for design and a friendly spirit.

Volunteering is a meaningful commitment, and your dedication deserves recognition. As a valued NAGB volunteer, you’ll receive some exclusive benefits, including:

  • Free museum admission
  • Discounts on merchandise at the Museum Store
  • Invitations to exclusive NAGB events
  • Hands-on experience in a
    vibrant artistic and cultural environment
  • Opportunities to build community and expand your network
  • Community service hours
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Valuable job experience in the arts and culture sector
