The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) is thrilled to announce that we have been chosen as a beneficiary organization in the Royal’s 25th Anniversary celebration and fundraising—a year-long celebration honoring the Royal at Atlantis. The NAGB, along with the Bahamas National Trust, The Bahamas Children’s Emergency Hostel, The Salvation Army, and Lend A Hand Bahamas, each received $55,000. Acting Executive Director Marysa Malone, Board Chairman John Cox, and board members Kishan Munroe and Bennett Atkinson represented the NAGB and accepted the donation on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
This generous donation will be used to acquire new artworks to add to the National Collection—the museum’s permanent collection that currently consists of over 500 works of art by more than 80 Bahamian artists. Thanks to this partnership, the NAGB will be able to expand its collection, ensuring we can continue to produce culturally relevant and high-quality exhibitions that offer rich dialogue on Bahamian culture and identity and put us on the international map.
We extend gratitude to Atlantis for this donation, which will allow us to promote Bahamian art and culture, strengthening our mission to educate, uplift, and inspire all Bahamians everywhere. We invite you to visit the museum to witness firsthand the immense talent of Bahamian artists and the impact that your support and contributions can make. Our current exhibition, The Nation/The Imaginary, celebrates the museum’s 20th anniversary and is on view through September 2024.
