ARTribe is our after-school art programme where teens (ages 13-17) can engage in artistic pursuits. The programme runs concurrently with the school year and provides teens with access to workspaces, materials and other resources, as well as formal and informal knowledge in the arts. In addition to having the freedom to make artwork that is important to them, ARTribe members also work on community-oriented projects, such as murals, under the guidance of the Education and Outreach team. Students have opportunities to work with notable Bahamian artists and creatives where they can get advice and learn new skills. Students are also encouraged to give back by volunteering at NAGB for workshops and events and in the wider community. We believe our collaboration and engagement with these students in creative, social, and cultural experiences will foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Our goal is to help foster lifelong connections to museums, art, and culture, which allows students to develop 21st-century skills like critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and interpersonal skills that ultimately produce caring, responsible, and adaptable individuals.
