The Suite: ECCHO

The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas is the country’s leading visual arts institution, dedicated to collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting Bahamian art. Through exhibitions, publications, public programmes, and strategic partnerships, the museum actively nurtures a healthy cultural ecosystem that empowers multiple generations of artists, scholars, and cultural workers, while creating opportunities for the public to access and engage with Bahamian art. 

Poet and cultural critic Patricia Glinton-Meicholas has written that museums play a vital role in helping Bahamians discover and value a truer understanding of our history, heritage, and culture. Guided by this belief, the museum serves as a hub for intellectual and artistic ingenuity, fostering a space where artists, scholars, and audiences are invited to explore the many ways Bahamian identity continues to evolve. 

Created in partnership with The Current: ECCHO, The Suite extends the museum beyond Villa Doyle as a dedicated space for contemporary Bahamian art. Through rotating exhibitions and related programmes, it brings Bahamian art to new audiences while showcasing new ideas and the work of artists shaping the cultural life of The Bahamas.
