On Friday, February 17th, starting at 6 p.m., the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas will host an artists’ talk with four artists from the NE8 including Margot Bethel, Dr. Ian Bethell-Bennett, Susan Katz-Lightbourn and Jordanna Kelly.
The discussion will focus on the projects developed for the NE8 which speak towards the environment and sustainable action, concerns around mounting violence in the world, ownership of the social and physical space that we occupy in The Bahamas and the way that personal stories and history can find moments of articulation and currency within the cultural landscape.
These projects hand in hand, are sprawling, dynamic and are useful as modules provoking the artists’ themselves to address their role in cultivating social awareness and how the act of creativity is directly linked to resistance, solidarity, and persistence.
