Blank Canvas: January 23rd, 2019, Amaani Hepburn, Dwynette Rolle and Jarette Stubbs

On tonight’s Blank Canvas we are focusing on young, upcoming artists who are taking the first steps in their creative careers and utilising the NAGB’s free portfolio workshops to assist them in their application to universities abroad and to other artistic opportunities. Guest host NAGB Education Officer Katrina Cartwright is joined by Dwynette Rolle, Amaani Hepburn and Jarette Stubbs, all of whom are enrolled in the art programme at the University of The Bahamas.

Rolle, Hepburn and Stubbs share their career aspirations and discuss the challenges they have encountered pursuing a career in the arts in The Bahamas, especially when faced with limited exposure to the arts during their time in high school and the frequent belief that there are no viable careers in this area. They also share their experiences at past portfolio workshops and reflect on how the activities and content have broadened their understanding of the many art careers available to them and assisted them in their quest to further their education in the arts.

Tune in and join the conversation! The Blank Canvas airs today and every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Guardian Talk Radio 96.9 FM.
