Blank Canvas: February 20th, 2019, Bahamas Junkanoo Art and Music Festival and “The Coloured Museum”

On tonight’s Blank Canvas guest host Katrina Cartwright, NAGB Education and Outreach Manager is joined by two dynamic groups who are working to bring Bahamian creativity to the forefront in exciting and distinct ways.

The first segment is all about the Bahamas Junkanoo Art and Music Festival which is being held at the Botanical Gardens this weekend, February 23rd and 24th, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Angelique McKay, Festival Coordinator, Donovan Moxey from Mobile Assist Platform, and Geno Rolle, Professional Junkanoo Artist (back row: pictured left to right), share festival highlights and discuss how technology will be used to enhance the experience of attendees.

In the two final segments Dr. Craig Smith, UB Chair of English Studies (back row, far right) and UB students Derica Ferguson and Kade Darling (front row: pictured left to right) bring us “The Coloured Museum”, a series of short plays which will be hosted February 25th-March 3rd, 2019 at the University of the Bahamas and The Dundas Center for the Performing Arts. “The Coloured Museum” is the first production for the newly formed University of The Bahamas Theatre Company (UBTC) which aims to develop Bahamian theatre via an apprenticeship programme. Tickets are currently on sale at The Black Box at the Dundas and at the UB Performing Arts building.
