Blank Canvas: May 8th, 2019, Diana Nawi

On tonight’s Blank Canvas, Amanda Coulson (NAGB’s Executive Director) receives a visit from Diana Nawi, an independent curator currently based in Los Angeles. Diana has worked with many artists from the diaspora in her former role as Associate Curator at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), where she worked for five years. There she organized the shows “Nari Ward: Sunsplashed” and “John Dunkley: Neither Day Nor Night,” (both artists from Jamaica), and more recently organised an exhibition with the Miami-based artist of Haitian descent, Adler Guerrier in the show “Conditions and Forms for blck Longevity” at the California African American Museum.

Nawi is also the co-Artist Director (alongside Naima J. Keith) of Prospect.5 in New Orleans in 2020 and acted as a selector of our own national exhibition, NE9. Diana is visiting The Bahamas to do more research into our artistic community and delve deeper into our creative output.
