On “NAGB’s Blank Canvas” , we meet Marielle Barrow, scholar and organiser of the Visual Arts Biennial for the Caribbean Development Bank, and Sonia Farmer, one of the Bahamian finalists and winner of one of three $5,000 grants. The Biennial was the culmination of a recent accelerator programme funded by the Cultural and Creative Industries Innovation Fund (CIIF) of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). An online show features work by 25 visual artists from across the Caribbean, selected out of 43 applications, and from those the three grantees were selected from the 12 represented member countries, namely – Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Suriname, The Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago. Farmer tells us about her project and her plans for its development with the recently-awarded grant.
“Blank Canvas” airs each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Guardian Talk Radio 96.9FM.
