NAGB Film Series: Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”

December 9, 2021, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) is excited to welcome you to the museum for the return of our NAGB Film Series!

“Kidnap the Sandy Claws, Throw him in a box, Bury him for ninety years, Then see if he talks.” These are not the lines of your favorite Christmas song, but they are certainly lines that demand your undivided attention. They are sung by Lock, Shock and Barrel, three decidedly naughty children who are sent on a not-nice-at all mission to kidnap Santa in Tim Burton’s fantastic stop motion-animated Christmas film, “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Christmas movie lovers, 7 years or 70 will find this incredibly imaginative tale climbs to the top of their best movie list in no time flat. Jack Skellington, the King of Halloween Town, decides to chase away his boredom and blues by jumping down the chimney in Santa’s stead. He plans to give boys and girls ghoulish gifts instead of whatever they wished for in their letters to jolly ole Saint Nick. A scarily bad plan, for sure. Filled will memorable characters, amazing visuals, fun creepiness and tons of warmth, Burton’s 1993 film puts an imaginative spin on Christmas that remains unmatched.

This and all screenings are free and open to the public. Come out with your blanket and spend this comfy winter night with us.

Vaccination is required for all adults. COVID-19 protocols will be strictly enforced.
