Inherit the Earth

The NAGB is thrilled to announce that Lynn Parotti’s solo show, “INHERIT THE EARTH,” which examines the effects humans are having on the earth through her stunning canvases, opened on April 15th, 2021. Over her decades-long career, Parotti has depicted the increasingly precarious and troubled ecologies we live in, realities that we are no stranger to in The Bahamas. The vibrant, immersive environments are depicted with brutal honesty in an alluring roster of blues, sometimes obscured by luminous, startling reds and yellows that call to mind industrial contaminants.

Parotti’s work immerses us in the phenomenology of the environment rather than just the representation of it. In this way, the work renders the sentience of the natural world as we know it, deepening our understanding of environmental degradation.
