On tonight’s “Blank Canvas” we are talking about the exciting new initiative between the NAGB and the University of The Bahamas (UB). The NAGB and UB recently signed a memo of understanding allowing for greater and closer collaboration.
Okay, how can I begin, but to say how I loved my job training experience. Day one of my job training I had a wonderful chance to meet Miss Pratt. She is a kind and very sweet person to meet and know. My first day on Tuesday at The National Art Gallery was a little bit boring. I was getting to know everybody since I am the new girl, but I got a chance to look around and see the most amazing pictures, drawings, and paintings.
My experience as an intern at the National Art Gallery Bahamas, was a phenomenal one. On the first day, February 3, 2014, I took a tour of the building for the first time. Just walking through the gallery was fascinating, seeing the strange, yet intriguing designs of some of the best artist in The Bahamas and some who even worked here. When I went upstairs to the exhibition Swan Song of The Flamingo, based on the sinking of the flamingo, I was shocked at the information displayed that I was not previously aware of. Walking through the exhibition, made me feel as though I was experiencing this incident.
Dear Bloggers, First & Foremost, I am Gem Roberts, an aspiring artist and aspiring computer information systems specialist. This past week, being my first week as an intern at NAGB has been informative and event filled, including this past Wednesday being the fortieth year of independence for my Bahamas.
Starting our internship, another intern, Ashante, and I were given a brief tour of the grounds in order to familiarize ourselves with the building and its history. We also read catalogues concerning exhibitions that were on display at the time to get an idea of what has been happening inside the gallery, as well as gain some knowledge about famous Bahamian artists.
Monday June 24th signifies the day I stepped into a whole new world of art that I have been blind to all my life. On this day, I took a step towards my future. On this day, I became an intern at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas. At first I had no clue what exactly to expect during this eye-opening journey. Of course I knew art would be involved, but I also knew that there was more to it.

Hi everyone, my name is Cydne Coleby – one of the NAGB’s newest volunteers. Outside of my volunteering, I am currently a second year Art major at the College of The Bahamas, but I was recently accepted to OTIS College of Art and Design to study Digital Media, and I am currently in the process of transferring over for the upcoming fall semester.
This past week we had an Intern who assisted us at the gallery. We had an amazing time with Aaron Theus, who was always quick to help with tours, collections management and membership. He picked up some new skills on the way and we hope to see him again in the future interning or volunteering with us.
