The NAGB is pleased to announce the opening of the Mixed Media Art Summer Camp’s (MMASC) annual exhibition! Showcasing the work of over 28 campers, the MMASC exhibition reflects the thoughts, feelings and voices of its participants.
Under the theme “Jammin’ Visuals” campers investigated the relationship between the visual arts and music. The immersive sensory experience looked at how the visual arts can be used to complement, enhance and in some cases make possible the presentation of the musical arts and vice versa. Students delved into the world of music to create artwork that has lyrical, emotive and performative elements. They explored both mediums to discover their complementary and juxtaposed traits, resulting in the ability to merge and use them to their fullest extents.
The NAGB’s onsite/virtual hybrid Mixed Media Art Summer Camp (MMASC) was designed to give campers the opportunity to work with trained art teachers and NAGB staff on property for two days, with the remaining three days set aside for virtual classes. While at the museum, campers created an art piece, painted a mural with a professional muralist and participated in onsite gallery tours and other theme-related activities.
The Mixed Media Art Summer Camp Exhibition will be on display in the Project Space at the NAGB until September 30th, 2021. The exhibition can also be viewed virtually on our website! Click here to view the virtual MMASC Exhibition.
