ARTribe is our after-school art programme where teenagers (ages 13-17) can engage in artistic pursuits. The programme, which runs concurrently with the school year, provides its members with access to workspaces, materials and other resources, as well as formal and informal knowledge in the arts. In addition to having the freedom to make artwork that is important to them, ARTribe members also work on community-oriented projects, such as murals, under the guidance of the Education and Outreach team. Students have opportunities to work with notable Bahamian artists and creatives where they can get advice and learn new artistic skills. Students are also encouraged to give back by volunteering at the NAGB for workshops and events and in the wider community. We believe that our collaboration and engagement with these students in creative, social, and cultural experiences will engender in them a deep appreciation for the arts.
Our goal is to help foster lifelong connections to museums, art, and culture, which allows students to develop 21st-century skills like critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and interpersonal skills that ultimately produce caring, responsible, and adaptable individuals. If you or a teenager you know is interested in the arts and looking to engage with the museum in meaningful ways, sign up here:
All meetings are currently held virtually until it is safe to resume in-person meetings.

“Art…allows me to express myself in ways that are easier than speaking. Art is one of the first things I was exposed to when I was younger. It allows me to do something I love to do which is working with my hands and getting to work with colour. Art is something that I am naturally skilled at and I want to build on that. I think ARTribe will help make art become a career path for me.”
