From Columbus to Junkanoo Poster Competition
“From Columbus to Junkanoo” features work that references historical events in The Bahamas from the 14th century to the present day. The exhibition first opened in Santiago, Cuba in July 2015 as a component of the Bahamian delegation at the Fiesta del Fuego. The NAGB launches a poster competition to support the exhibition.
Writers En Mas: Essay Competition
In light of the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas’ (NAGB) new exhibition, EN MAS’: Carnival, Junkanoo and Performance Art of the Caribbean, the NAGB hopes to get young Bahamians thinking critically about the way Junkanoo connects with heritage and history.
The NAGB is inviting high school and primary school students to participate in an essay competition on Junkanoo. The deadline for submissions will be June 2nd, 2016. Winners will be announced on June 10th, 2016.
