Richardo Barrett, born and raised in Nassau, The Bahamas has led a particularly varied multidisciplinary career in the arts, working as a: visual artist, curator, art technician, gallery project coordinator, and aspiring art conservator.
After receiving his Associate of Arts degree in Visual Arts at the College of The Bahamas in 2012, his professional career began at The Current Art Gallery at Baha Mar, after which he joined the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, where he has worked since. Presently, he is continuing his studies through the Northern Conservation Centers’ Museum Certificate Program, with a focus on Collections Management and Care.
Since his arrival in 2015, Barrett has had a pivotal role in every exhibition at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB). Through his commitment to his many roles and responsibilities at the Museum, the NAGB has presented several successful, and culturally significant exhibitions. Currently, he serves as the Curatorial Manager at the NAGB.
Alongside his career as a gallery and museum professional, Barrett is an accomplished visual artist. His work has been featured and collected locally and internationally.
With over a decade of experience working within the creative industries as an arts and culture advocate, Barrett is passionate about continuing the advancement of the local Bahamian Art Community as well as the Diaspora. He is also committed to the conservation and preservation of Bahamian and Caribbean cultural patrimony for future generations of creatives.
