All are invited
The public is invited to attend the opening reception of Lavar Munroe’s 10 Year Survey “Son of the Soil” at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NABG) which features over 40 works from the last decade of the artist’s career. The exhibition opens on Thursday, September 13th at 7 pm and will have live entertainment, drinks and bites.
A native of Grants Town, Munroe has been a mover and a shaker in the contemporary art world nationally, regionally and internationally with his work collected by galleries, museums and private collectors worldwide. Munroe’s work was featured in the 2015 Venice Biennale in the exhibition “All the World’s Futures”, curated by the famed, Okwui Enwezor. He represented The Bahamas at the 2010 Liverpool Biennial with a site-specific drawing work and was supported at the 12th Dakar Biennial in Senegal.
On the same evening, what began as a delightful idea has now taken shape as the “Potcake Exhibition.” Join us on the same evening as we present works by 20 students, novice artists and professional creatives in an eclectic display of our favourite Bahamian breed!
The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas is located on West, and West Hill Street sandwiched between John Watling’s, Graycliff and St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. Additional parking will be available at the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral.
